WHAT YOU’LL LEARN DSLR Techniques “I don’t try to be the best photographer in the world; I just try to be better than I was one week ago.” Emin Kuliyev, in the June/July 2008 issue of After Capture Magazine. This perceptive quote sums up our workshop in a nutshell. You will improve your ability to see and capture images that are uniquely yours and will acquire new technical and esthetic skills necessary to become a better photographer. At the end of the week, you’ll be better than you were the week before much better. More important you’ll have the foundation on which to build so that you’ll be able to become better and better each week thereafter. DSLR Tips and Techniques will be taught by five pros to introduce you to new concepts and techniques, stimulate your creativity, and provide you with fresh ideas. If you are looking for new ways to improve your photography, look no further. But there’s more. While the main emphasis is on seeing and shooting better images, there are two sub-themes in the workshop. The first sub-theme is acquiring a knowledge of Photoshop or Photoshop Elements at whatever level you happen to be at. Rather than sit through demonstrations that may or may not apply to your needs, each attendee has the option of signing up for individualized instruction with a Photoshop Pro. Or not signing up at all, if your interests run more to taking pictures than post-production. If you sign up, the instructor will work with you at whatever level you are at: beginner to advanced. You can work on your own images with him looking over your shoulder, guiding you when you need help or suggesting alternative methods of achieving your vision. Or you can just have him explain the use of tools or techniques. It’s up to you. The second sub-theme covers the acquisition of new skills. This time around we’re going to show you how to create fine arts work that can be exhibited and/or published as a photo book and marketed. It’s time to learn how to make some of your images pay off; there’s no more satisfying feeling than to have someone think your work is good enough to buy. From fine art printing (including black and white techniques) right through to matting and framing you’ll do it all during the workshop. You'll even learn how to lay out your own photo book and prepare your images for a web gallery. While this is an intermediate workshop, we reserve a small number of spaces for those who have more limited experience. An instructor is assigned to assist them and there are pre-workshop web exercises at a special site they can access prior to the workshop that will bring them up to speed. Finally, we have lively critiquing sessions that are the highlight of the workshop. After dinner, during several evenings of the workshop, optional open sessions are held where work is projected on the screen and instructors comment on it. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions, give details of how their pictures were taken, tell of any problems they encountered. The instructor makes suggestions and then, on to the next image. Past attendees have found these give-and-take sessions to be one of the highlights of the workshop. PLUS: Best hardware and software recommendations and demonstrations, and guidance on any photodigital topic you've always wanted to know about, but couldn't find anyone to ask! Register Now! Enrollment is Limited to 20 attendees to assure personal mentoring from our five professional instructors. There is no other workshop in the world like this and it will give you creative and technical skills that will forever change the way you see and take pictures. Note: We reserve the right to make changes or substitutions to the curriculum should unforeseen circumstances occur that necessitate it. |
