| The DigiPhoto 101 online class usually consists of ten students, both young and mature, spread across the world. Some have previously done film photography while others are beginners who have bought digital cameras and want to learn how to use them to take meaningful pictures. All photographs exhibited here are straight-from-the-camera images. None have been cropped or digitally manipulated. Major emphasis in the course is placed on getting the picture as perfectly framed and exposed as possible at the time it is taken. Once students learn to do this, they can go on to use imaging programs creatively and not merely to salvage bad photographs.
The work exhibited here shows an extraordinary range of subject matter and some excellent work produced by the students. They were chosen from over 600 pictures fulfilling assignments over a period of ten weeks. Further information about the course is available at the DigiPhoto 101 page, and visitors to this exhibition are invited to follow the weekly progress of the current class.
